Isle of Man Classic TT Review

16 members braved the crossing to the Isle of Man for the Manx Grand Prix for what was a fantastic week of sun filled days and roaring motorbikes, rain only interrupted play on one evening and throughout the night other then that the weather added to the atmosphere. The majority of members stayed at Glenlough campsite with some others preferring to stay in more comfortable B & B's in Douglas.

The week mainly involved visiting the eclectic mix of pub and church visits both of which served suitable refreshments at a time of need, viewing took place at various points ranging from Union Mills, The Grandstand (where we got in for free!) Bray Hill, Crosby, Ramsey, Brandywell, Bungalow, Creg-ny-ba and more that I cant remember!

The branch also attended the Isle of Man NOC Branches evening where over 100 Nortons attended and enjoyed a BBQ. The branch also converged to The Creek Inn at Peel for a classic bike meet and catch up with the Bristol branch where I was lucky enough to win a raffle prize of polish, headlights clothing and more. Members also attended HJurby festival to see the Rotary Nortons race around the track which was incredible to see and hear!! Going by the number of rotary engines or lack of more to the point (they blew up 2 engines in the week including 2 from the duckhams rotaries!) I doubt they will ever be raced or paraded again! We also made the journey back to Laxey to view the Laxey wheel as well as take the electric tram up to the summit of Snaefell (the highest peak on the island) some members then rode to the far south to Murrays motor museum which is a real treasure trove of bike regalia.

The last supper was held at the imperial dragon where we all got together for a super chinese with all the bells and whistles which bought a fantastic end to proceeding.
